muay thai kickboxing

Muay Thai Kickboxing, the National Sport of Thailand, is also known as the “Art or Science of Eight Limbs.” Students learn to effectively use the body’s natural weapons: hands, elbows, knees and feet. More specifically, Muay Thai Kickboxing combines punches, elbows, knee strikes and kicks into a self-defense system designed to develop your speed, power, timing, and endurance. Muay Thai Kickboxing is based on basic skills that can be taught to almost anyone! From the very first class, students will begin holding or hitting specialized striking pads called Thai pads where students can practice their kicks, punches, knees and kicks at their own pace.

Students also work with the jump rope, focus mitts and the speed bag for their boxing techniques, and the heavy bag for power and conditioning. All of these drills will get you in great shape and will give you the confidence that you will be able to defend yourself against any type of attack. With this training, not only do you get a great workout, but you also attain many mental benefits as well. More specifically, martial arts is a great way to increase your physical energy and mental clarity while simultaneously developing a calm inner confidence. Some other mental benefits include higher self-esteem, increase in confidence, and greater focus and concentration. Some of the physical benefits include increased energy and stamina, better endurance and cardiovascular conditioning, greater flexibility, improved strength and muscle tone, weight loss, and stress relief.
